Eighteen Islamic organisations in the Netherlands received some €10m in funding from Kuwaiti charitable organisations between 2007 and 2015, the NRC said on Tuesday.
The figures come from a confidential overview of foreign donations given by Kuwait to the Dutch foreign affairs ministry, the paper said. Sources had briefed the NRC about the findings.
The NRC says this is the first time that a Gulf state has given the Dutch government information about funding and officials were not previously aware of some of the donations.
The document shows that the Utrecht mosque Al Fitrah received money from the Revival of Islamic Heritage Society, which is included on the US list of organisations funding terrorism.
