The mystery of the burqa-wearing, assault rifle-toting statue hiding in the bushes at a city gas station has come to a close as police say they have found the person responsible for creating the situation.
The puzzle began Monday, when a city resident called police to report what appeared to be a statue of a woman wearing a burqa and carrying a rifle popping out of the bushes next to the Gulf gas station at the corner of Route 130 and High Street.
Police were dispatched to the station, where the staff said they hadn't noticed the statue, didn't put it there themselves and didn't know how it got there or why.
