Secretary of the Army John McHugh announced today that he has directed the United States Army to provide "all possible benefits" to victims of a 2009 attack at Fort Hood who were recently awarded the Purple Heart medal, according to a news release from Fort Hood.
Thirteen people were killed and 31 were wounded in the Nov. 5, 2009, shooting at a medical processing site for deploying soldiers.
The soldiers who were killed or wounded were approved for a Purple Heart, many of them receiving the medal during a ceremony at Fort Hood last week.
