Quebec politician calls for mosque inspectors
by Charles Lecavalier
New mosques should be inspected for their adherence to Quebec values before obtaining an operating license, a provincial party leader says.
Francois Legault, the leader of the Coalition for Quebec's Future, made the comments as he backed the mayor of Shawinigan, Que., who recently refused to grant a permit to a mosque.
"I think it's possible for the Quebec government or the government of a municipality to go to investigate whether individuals seeking a license intend or have already preached repeated denials of Quebec values," said Legault.
