Trojan Horse-style concerns raised about Birmingham schools 20 years ago, new report reveals
Concerns over the Trojan Horse-style infiltration of Birmingham schools were first made 20 years ago, a new report into the Department of Education has revealed.
The investigation, by the department's top civil servant Chris Wormald, found fears were raised with ministers as long ago as 1994.
Departmental records showed senior leaders in three city's schools wrote to education ministers that year, copying in the Prime Minister expressing concerns about extremist group Hizb ut-Tahrir gaining influence over schools.
