Demonstrations are being organised all over the Netherlands on Thursday night to remember the victims of Wednesday's shooting at the offices of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris.
The mayors of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht have urged people to take to the streets at 18.00 hours, a call later taken up by the mayors of Gouda, Leiden, Assen and others. There are also Facebook pages urging similar demonstrations in Delft, The Hague and Hoorn, broadcaster Nos reports.
In Paris and other French cities demonstrations are also planned for 18.00. Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in French cities on Wednesday evening and there were spontaneous demonstrations in Amsterdam and other Dutch cities.
