For the second year in a row, World Hijab Day is set to be celebrated in Fort McMurray.
The Fort McMurray World Hijab Day Committee will hold the second annual event Feb. 1 at Peter Pond Mall, inviting all Muslim and non-Muslim residents to attend and learn more about the cultural and religious significance of the hijab.
"We live in a world where Islam — a religion of peace and harmony — is still misunderstood," said Kiran Malik-Khan, president and co-founder of Fort McMurray's World Hijab Day, in a release. "It's critical for everyone to come and find out for themselves what it's all about. Help us in helping you understand, as we (lift) the veil from the religion, and the hijab."
