Church alarm at 'danger' of Government's 'British values' test in wake of Trojan Horse row
The Church of England has raised alarm over the Education Secretary Nicky Morgan's drive to make schools teach "British values" branding it potentially dangerous, divisive and undemocratic.
The Church, which is responsible for the schooling of around a million children in England, voiced fears that what it sees as a narrow definition of British values introduced in the wake of the Trojan Horse scandal is being used as a test of whether people are "loyal" and "safe".
It singled out the use of inspectors to "police" whether schools are promoting ideas about equality and diversity as a major concern.
