If new national elections were to take place today, then HC Strache's opposition right-wing Freedom Party (FPÖ) would be in first place, according to two new poll results.
According to the polling institutes, the FPÖ would be well ahead of the Social Democrats (SPÖ) who won the last elections. The SP's coalition partner, the conservative People's Party (ÖVP) came in third place.
According to a study by the Linzer market institute, published in the newspaper Der Standard on the weekend, the FPÖ had 27 percent. The SPÖ was in second place with 22, and the ÖVP in third with 19 percent.
