New guidelines for fasting Swedish Muslims
Having previously had to fast from dawn to dusk during the endless summer days, Muslims living in northern Sweden have now received fresh guidelines for when they can start and break the fast during Ramadan.
In parts of northern Sweden, such as Kiruna, the sun never sets for much of June and July. The neverending days have prompted confusion amongst Muslims living in Sweden who wish to strictly observe the custom of fasting.
Ramadan in 2014 starts on June 28th and continues for 30 days until July 27th.
