A majority of Danes want a ban on the religious circumcision of boys, but there is no indication that Sundhedsstyrelsen, the national board of health, will recommend a ban. According to a poll of 1,001 Danish adults conducted by InFact for DR Nyheder, six out of ten Danes believe that politicians should introduce a ban.
The poll was taken in conjunction with the health department's efforts to update its recommendations. Currently, the guide does not recommend for or against circumcision. An early draft of the latest recommendations sets out the same non-position.
