145 new cases of female genital mutilation in Coventry every year
Letters are to be sent to the heads of every primary and secondary school in Coventry after it emerged that there are more than 100 cases of female genital mutilation in the city every year.
It is estimated that annually 145 new cases come to light of women and girls in Coventry who've been subjected to FGM, also known as female circumcision.
The practice, which happens in countries in Africa, parts of the Middle East and Asia, is illegal in the UK.
