Afia Baig dreams of a world where people respect one another, regardless of the clothes they choose wear or the way they look. This isn't the world we live in now, she says, but maybe it will exist some day.
With her brown eyes looking out from under her polka-dotted face-covering veil, the Mississauga woman spoke passionately about the results of a recent study focusing on why Canadian women choose to wear the niqab.
The report, called Women in Niqab Speak: A study of the niqab in Canada, was presented on Sunday afternoon at the Muslim Society of Guelph's mosque on Water Street to a crowd of around 30 people, six of whom were wearing the niqab.
