Make Islam official faith in Italy: top Imam
Muslims make up Italy's second-largest religious group but their faith still lacks official national recognition, according to the president of the Union of Islamic Communities of Italy.
Italy is home to 1.7 million Muslims and the country has over 700 mosques, according to figures from Istat, the national statistics agency.
Muslims also account for 4.5 percent of GDP.
