A Liberal government would allow the minority of doctors, nurses, daycare workers and civil servants in Quebec who wear hijabs, kippahs and turbans on the job to continue to do so, party leader Philippe Couillard said Tuesday.
Coincidently, at an international seminar this week in the Quebec National Assembly, about 80 female parliamentarians, some wearing hijabs, or Islamic head coverings, are discussing greater access for women to political and economic power.
Couillard noted the presence of the women in hijabs, calling them "striking and admirable examples of participation, social integration and equality."
