Decision postponed on controversial textbooks
by Juanta Coffman
Conservative groups complaints about textbooks have prompted the Alabama school board to postpone a decision on new textbooks.
State School Superintendent Tommy Bice requested the delay on Thursday after the Eagle Forum of Alabama and ACT for America complained that the textbooks promote Islam and oppose Christianity.
The groups say 12 of the proposed textbooks for social studies courses are anti-Christian with a pro-Muslim angle.
