Doctor may face police inquiry over FGM claim
Scotland Yard is set to launch an inquiry into allegations that a London doctor carried out a female genital mutilation procedure on a patient.
Detectives are examining evidence presented to a General Medical Council about actions by Dr Sureshkumar Pandya in order to assess whether to launch a full investigation.
The GP, who practises in London, is said to have undertaken a surgical procedure involving female circumcision, outlawed in Britain for 28 years.
