by Andy Hughes
Non-Muslims from Newcastle's west end have been fasting to see how hard it is for the Islamic community during Ramadan.
The Islamic Diversity Centre invited the local community to take part in their daily practice of consuming no ffod or water during their holy month, and in returned rewarded them with a free feast at the Ma'ida Restaurant in Walbottle, Newcastle.
Abu Tayeb, from the Islamic Diversity Centre, said the organisation wants to educate people in the North East of the daily lives of Muslims.
