New Syrian Rebel Leader Was CAIR Official

The Syrian Opposition Coalition has elected an interim prime minister under U.S. pressure. And it chose a former representative of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in Texas named Ghassan Hitto, disappointing secularists who "withdrew before the vote to protest what they described as a hasty foreign-backed push to appoint Hitto."
CAIR was designated by the federal government in 2007 as an unindicted co-conspirator in the trial of the Holy Land Foundation, a Muslim Brotherhood front whose leaders were found guilty of financing Hamas. The government included CAIR on a list of U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entities that made up its secret Palestine Committee.
In 2009, a federal judge upheld CAIR's designation as an unindicted co-conspirator because of "ample" evidence linking it to Hamas. CAIR is an outgrowth of the Islamic Association for Palestine, a Muslim Brotherhood front that supported Hamas. A 1991 U.S. Muslim Brotherhood strategy memo said "its work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within…"
