CAIR-MI representing incarcerated Muslim in halal lawsuit

The Council on American Islamic Relations of Michigan is representing an incarcerated Muslim, who was denied halal food in the St. Clair County Jail. A lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan regarding the incident.
CAIR-MI has received numerous complaints about the lack of religious accommodations for detained Muslims in county jails and state prisons. If you have complaints regarding family members or friends being denied Halal food or access to practice Islam in correctional facilities in Michigan, call CAIR'S office at 248-559-2247.
