A debate over parking standards for a proposed mosque in Liberty Corner continued before the Planning Board on Tuesday, Feb. 5, as the proponent's traffic consultant disputed the threshold set by the board's staff.
Henry J. Ney, a traffic engineer hired by the Islamic Society of Basking Ridge (ISBR), said that while the staff projected a need for 110 parking stalls, he believed 70 would be "the maximum demand."
Ney said the ISBR's proposal for 50 parking stalls would therefore be adequate so long as it "banks" surrounding grass areas for up to 20 additional, future stalls.
