Expect CAIR to Cry Foul Over the Latest FBI Sting
by Ryan Mauro
Yesterday, the FBI, with the help of an informant, stopped a plot by a 21-year old terrorist from Bangladesh to blow up the Federal Reserve Bank in New York. You don't have to be a prophet to know how the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and similar Brotherhood-originated groups will react. If you listen carefully, you can already hear the cries of "entrapment!"
The suspect, Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis, is a subscriber to the Al Qaeda version of Islamism, a fan of the works of Anwar al-Awlaki that dedicated his scheme to "Sheikh Osama Bin Laden." After he arrived in the U.S. in January, he unknowingly enlisted an FBI informant in his plot. The agency watched his every move, documenting his surveillance of possible targets. He contemplated an attack on the Stock Exchange or an assassination attempt on President Obama, but selected the Federal Reserve Bank.
The FBI had the informant assist him in building his car bomb that was designed to never pose a threat. The FBI doesn't do this to scare the public but to build a solid, irrefutable case. After Nafis tried to detonate the "bomb" with his cell phone, he was arrested. That was the smoking gun that the agency sought. An accomplice, referred to as "Yacqueen" by the FBI, was arrested on unrelated charges.
