Alexeyeva wants introduction of school uniform in Russia over hijab problem
Human rights activists believe the introduction of compulsory school uniforms in Russia could be the solution to the conflict that has recently arisen in Stavropol, where several schoolgirls were not allowed to wear hijabs to school.
The parents of some schoolgirls in the Stavropol Territory have complained to the Muslim board that their daughters are not allowed to wear hijabs to school, the press service for the territory's Muslim board reported.
"I think this situation can be resolved by introducing compulsory school uniforms," Lyudmila Alexeyeva, Russia's oldest human rights activist and the head of the Moscow Helsinki Group, told Interfax.
