A harrowing report of sex abuse carried out in the Muslim community in the UK was broadcast tonight by BBC Radio 4, which indicated that a number of imams have been guilty of keeping such abuse a secret from the authorities.

The report revealed that a dossier, containing the names of imams who refused to help abused women, has been drawn up by the Centre for Islamic Pluralism, which intends handing its report over to the Government in December.

The CIP's "naming and shaming" is part of a campaign to expose imams whose silence on domestic abuse is leading to women being burnt, lashed and raped in the name of Islam.
